Garganey (Anas querquedula)
Status at Longham Lakes
Rare passage migrant.
1. 1 on Longham Reservoir North on 2nd-15th September 2004.
2. 1 eclipse male on Longham Reservoir North, 4th-5th September 2007.
3. 1 male on the Quarry, 17th May 2008 (Chris Parnell).
4. 1 pair on the Quarry Floods, 31st March 2009.
5. 1 male on the Quarry on 4 May 2009.
6. 1 male on LR South on 5th May to 6th June 2010. This bird was extremely tame and often associated with Mallards and their young.
7. 1 pair on 13th-20th April 2011, with 2 pairs on 16th.
8. 1 drake on 7th May 2012 (unknown).
9. 1 drake on 22nd May 2012 (George Green).
10. 1 drake on 18th May 2013 (Dominic Couzens) and again on 25th (Chris Parnell).
11. A pair arrived on 16th April 2014 (DC) and remained until 3rd May (many observers).
12. 1 female/immature on 26th July 2014 (George Green).
13. 1 male turned up on 3rd April 2015 (Martin Wood) and remained until 26th April, being joined by a second bird on 9th April.
