Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiaca)
Status at Longham Lakes
Currently an uncommon visitor. Who knows what the future holds for this increasing species?
1. 1 flying over on 14th January 2008 (Chris Parnell).
2. 2 on the flooded Quarry on 28th January 2009.
3. 3 on Longham Reservoir South on 27th May 2010.
4. A pair over Longham Reservoir South, 17th January 2011.
5. 2 on LR South on 11th April 2011.
6. Two flew east over LR South on 30th April 2011 (George Green).
7. 3 on 24th March 2012 (Chris Parnell).
8. 2 on 24th June (Trevor Thorpe) and 1 on 29th (DC) and 4th July 2012 (George Green).
9. Probably the same bird present as above, 20th-23rd July 2012.
10. 2 on 3rd April 2013 (Alan Pearce), then 1 on 7th, 2 on 12th and 13th April.
11. 2 on 11th and 2 on 25th January 2014 (GG).
12. 2 on Hampreston Fields on 18th May 2014 (Robin Trundle).
13. 1 on LR North on 8th July 2014 (Robin Trundle), then 2 on 13th July. Another was reported on 18th July (Trevor Wilkinson) and then 3 on 20th-21st (WEBS/George Green) and 1 on 24th.
14. 4 on 1st December 2014 (George Green).
2015: 2 on 12th March, 1 on 25th June and 3 on 4th December (all George Green).
2016: 2 on 10th May and 3 on 11th; 2 on 27th October; 6 flying north-west on 31st October (Trevor Wilkinson); 2 on 5th November; 4 on 7th November; 1 on 29th December.
