Dunnock (Prunella modularis)
Status at Longham Lakes
Common resident. Breeds abundantly on site and seen or heard on most visits.
Breeding:
2010: Minimum of 5 territories on-site.
2011: One seen building a nest, 26th March (Chris Parnell).
2012: 3 territories between Samuel’s Wood and Green Lane, 20th April. Juvenile on 27th June in ringing nets.
2014: About 13 territories, early April.
2016: 24 territories were located mainly in scrub and hedgerow (Steve Morrison).
Ringing:
2011: 23 individuals ringed May 10th-October 3rd. 5 on May 10th.
2012: 29 ringed between May and October.
2013: 22 ringed between June and October, with 4 birds on 6th August.
2014: 17 ringed between May and September.
