Carrion Crow (Corvus corone)

Status at Longham Lakes

Year-round resident, seen on every visit. Large numbers occur near Hampreston and can sometimes be seen from the site.

Putative high counts:
1. 7 on 11th March 2007.
2. 5 on 16th December 2010.
3. 50+ on 26th September 2011.
4. 152 (41 and 111 on different fields) on 23rd February 2013 (Trevor Thorpe).
5. 64 in Samuel’s Wood on 30th October 2014.
6. 40+ on 20th January 2015 (Trevor Wilkinson).
7. 40 on 24th April 2015.

Breeding:
Juvenile seen 15th July 2005.
2010: 2 pairs (1 nest Emily’s Wood, 1 pair Samuel’s Wood).
2014: 1 pair at least, Samuel’s Wood.
2016: 2 territories were held, one each at Emily’s Wood and Samuel’s Wood (Steve Morrison).
